This Year's Details
From there you can make your donation (Suggested $20 - $50 per person) at the Surf Club (4:30pm - 6pm), and at the main 3 hotels (Steyne, New Brighton, Ivanhoe) (6pm - 8pm). This is where you will receive your wristband and an itinerary of your movements for the night.
More details about the itinerary will be given out on the night.
What is the "Santa Claus Sunday Session"?
Formally called the "Manly Santa Pub Crawl", basically everybody gets dressed up in Christmas costume (e.g. Santa Claus, Mrs Claus, reindeer, elves, snowmen and xmas trees) and we visit several of the hotels in Manly spreading Christmas cheer . Apart from raising money for charity, it is a guaranteed good time and over the years has attracted the reputation as one of Manly's premier social events. Check out some of the photos from previous years' events under the photo section. Last year we had around 800-900 people join in.
How does the Pub Crawl raise money?
Money is raised through the donations of those people attending the pub crawl as well as from other patrons of the hotels and members of the general public. The hotels and some of the local businesses also contribute by either donating money or supplying us with a few free beers or pies etc to help us on our way during the pub crawl. We also sell (donate what you can) various bits of Christmas paraphernalia such as santa hats, reindeer antlers and Christmas ties. We'll probably organise a raffle or something too- do you know of a business that might donate a prize?
How does the community benefit?
All money raised by the event is donated to Stewart House, a local charity based in Curl Curl which helps disadvantaged children from all over NSW and the ACT. It helps children suffering from ill-health, children who have recently experienced a period of sorrow or loss, and children who are victims of poverty, neglect, or isolation (for more information on Stewart House visit www.stewarthouse.org.au ). Let 's make it another fantastic Christmas this year for everyone, including those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
How can YOU help?
Get all your friends together, get dressed up in Santa or other Christmas costume, and come and join in the fun of the Manly Santa Sunday Session.
Being Responsible & Safe
I know most of this stuff below most people know, but I thought I better spell it out so everyone is aware of "problems" which can happen on the night.
- Responsible Service of Alcohol
Remember that the hotels can deny service at any time for intoxicated Santas, and you will be treated the same as if you had turned up on any other night. You should also be responsible for the Santas around you, and suggest a water for anyone you think might have had a few too many.
- Food & Water
Remember there is free food (or food deals) and water at most of the pubs we go to, so remember to have a break from drinking from time to time.
- Lock Out Process.
Because we are travelling around as a big group it is possible that the pub could preform a "Lock Out" which means that we will all be asked to leave, and then based on each person allowed back in later if the pubs decide so. Don't take this personally, it is becoming a common process so pubs and re-check the intoxication of everyone one at a time.
- Dress Codes
As far as I am aware the Charlie bar has a dress codes from after10pm, so you will need a change of clothes if you intend to go here after this time.
- Drinking Time Frame
Obviously people drink at different rates and some people start at different times, but the reason for the finish time to be set to 9:30pm is the official end of the Manly Santa Sunday Session.. But depending on how long you have been out for and how well behaved we have been as a group, the pubs will not have any problem with you staying for as late as you like.
- Dangerous Costumes
Each year some people got to huge efforts with their costumes which are fantastic. The only thing to be aware of is you will be in large crowds so be careful not to have any sharp edges etc on your costume which might cut someone by mistake.
